Ninja Tales: Part II

"Spies hide guns like squirrels hide nuts." ...well what does that make Jack?

Something about this phrase just rings true with my son lately. Don't ask me if he's the spy or the squirrel- I'm thinking it's a little of both. The latest tale of ninja Jack involves hording. We are currently staying at my parents' house for the week, and Jack has discovered an ultra-secret hording spot. Beneath the couch. This particular couch has a skirt around it, so you can't see under it. Well the other day while playing with his truck, he pushed it under the couch. I thought it was an accident, and he'd simply pull it out and continue playing. But, no. The ninja's interests were peaked and he soon investigated this new space and its wonders......

Later the same day: It is time for nap. I gather his normal nap materials: blankey, blue teddy bear, white teddy bear, pacifier, ....and stuffed puppy?? Hmmm, where has the puppy gone? Search the den, kitchen, dining room, living room. No where. Search again the den, kitchen, dining room, living room. Idea pops in and I look under the couch, where-under lies a horde of toys! Ninja Jack strikes again. Within mere hours of arriving at Mimi's, he's claimed his territory. The ninja has built a secret stash. What's his end game? Is he worried the evil Mommy will hide his toys? Is he preparing for some sort of toy-napping? I knew he was serious about the "holiness" of the stash when he placed his much-beloved pacifier there. At least when I knew it was missing, and it was time for bed, I knew just where to look.

And so the tales of the ninja Jack continue. Stay tuned; one never knows what he'll devise next.

He is such a clever and sneaksy ninja! Won't it be fun when he starts stashing food, dirty diapers [just in case, you never know when something might come in handy :)], cats, or maybe even siblings or cousins?
