Pumpkins

As it is October, it was time for the annual pumpkin patch visit. It was fun taking the boys, and we bought a pumpkin to carve for the first time this year.

Jason has the best cheesy smile when I turn on the camera! He thoroughly enjoyed running thru the rows of pumpkins, laughing, and then trying to run into the hayride path over and over again.

You can't tell, but Jack was excited to sit on a pumpkin. I think he's missing the wagon he just left behind.

Jason sincerely trying to pull the wagon here. Love how Jack is sitting there with his arm over the wagon, waiting to be pulled around.

in line for the hayride...

on the hayride...

Jack and Jason venture forth into the hay maze. Jason made it exactly that far before some big kids came in, scared him to tears, and he came running out. Jack, however, made it thru and thought it was great fun.

Hmmm, which way?

Jack made it out of 2 different hay mazes successfully. I was really impressed with his skill, and he wanted to do the 'big kid' maze over and over again.

After a few attempts, we finally convinced Jack to stick his head in the hole.

Jack enjoyed the inflatable slide and bounce house...

I seriously think the wagon is the best part for my boys-

Tuckered out- he fell asleep the last 5 minutes of the carride, and thankfully stayed asleep during the transfer from car to crib.

What a fun morning. I love the feel of Autumn. Happy Halloween!

The (freezing) Air Show

In early October, we took the boys to the Fort Worth Air Show. We'd been anticipating it for a month before, hoping the boys would love it. It was great. The only down side was the weather. A cold front blew in that day, and it hovered in the 40's. Which would have been fine, except we'd been used to the blissful 70 degree weather earlier that week, and only brought light jackets to the show thinking it'd be in the 60's. To compound the issue, we arrived right as the show was slated to begin, only to learn it was delayed an hour due to weather! Luckily, we had blankets in the car and wrapped the boys up the best we could, and endured the cold hour 'til start time by touring the planes on display.

Just his size! Jason was delighted to see a glider plane on his level.

This was possibly the most gigantic airplane I've ever stepped into. It's a cargo plane, called the c5 galaxy, or so I'm told by my husband. It's large enough to carry jeeps and other supplies for the military.

Jason finally let me wrap a blanket around his legs at this point in time...

Mimi sitting with the boys, waiting for the show to start. Notice the blanket/stroller contraption we rigged for Jack's comfort. He loved it. And Jason would venture away from my mom to explore, only to return after a few seconds to get warm again.

Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the airplanes in action. My fingers were frozen and my camera phone is not that good. But suffice it to say, it was very entertaining. We saw barrel rolls, dives, and various other aerial acrobatics.

The best part of the show was the Pearl Harbor reenactment. They had Japanese bomber planes fly in swarms; just the sound of these planes was enough to get your adrenaline going. It's not the hum of modern-day planes, but the unique thrum of WWII era planes. Wish I could describe it better. Anyways, the narrator was describing the Sunday morning in Oahu, when suddenly these explosions go off as the planes flew overhead. Smoke everywhere, it definitely got our attention. I tried my best to capture the fire on camera, but only got the smoke. It's in the background of the below pic.

And that was our morning at the air show. I can't wait until the next one, it was great to watch my boys' reactions to the planes. Jack loved the dives and fire, and Jason wouldn't stop pointing to the sky.
